About Boalt Standard

Boalt Standard is a Swedish sandstone prized for its warm beige and cream palette, offering a subtle, homogeneous grain that lends itself to both contemporary and classic designs. The stone presents a smooth, even texture with occasional faint veining, making it ideal for flooring, wall cladding, countertops, and outdoor applications. Boalt Standard performs well in honed, polished, or brushed finishes, depending on the desired aesthetic and functional requirements. Marmi di Carrara supplies Boalt Standard in robust blocks and ready‑to‑install slabs of 2‑3 cm thickness, with cut‑to‑size options and high‑resolution photos of actual slabs available before purchase.

Typically a fine‑grained sandstone with a uniform beige to cream colour.

Finishes for Boalt Standard

Honed

Smooth and matt, with a soft satin look. Hides small scratches and etching better than a polish and is safer underfoot.

Sandblasted

A fine, even roughness obtained with a jet of sand. Lightens the colour and gives grip: used for exteriors, steps and pool surrounds.

Bush-hammered

A rough, pitted surface made with a toothed hammer. Maximum slip resistance for exterior paving, ramps and steps.

Natural cleft

The stone is split along its natural layers and left as it is: a lively, riven surface with excellent grip.

Care and maintenance

  • Clean with water and a neutral detergent; hard stones tolerate everyday use very well.
  • Sealing is quick and recommended on light colours and on honed, leathered or flamed finishes.
  • Avoid waxes and film-forming products that leave a layer on the surface.
  • Outdoors, an occasional wash with a pressure cleaner at moderate pressure restores the colour.
  • Hot pans, knives and frost are not a problem for most stones of this family; use trivets anyway to protect sealers.
