About Bjärlöv

Bjarlov is a Swedish granite prized for its uniform grey tone and fine to medium grain. The stone displays subtle speckles of lighter and darker minerals, giving it a sophisticated, understated veining that works well in both contemporary and classic settings. Ideal for flooring, wall cladding, countertops and outdoor applications, Bjarlov performs beautifully in polished, honed or brushed finishes. Marmi di Carrara supplies Bjarlov in robust blocks and slabs of 2‑3 cm thickness, offers cut‑to‑size services, and provides real‑time photos of actual slabs before purchase, ensuring confidence and precision for architects and designers.

Finishes for Bjärlöv

Polished

Mirror-like gloss that brings out colour and veining at full depth. The classic choice for walls, tops and interior floors; slippery when wet.

Honed

Smooth and matt, with a soft satin look. Hides small scratches and etching better than a polish and is safer underfoot.

Leathered

A brushed texture on hard stones: matt, lightly textured and very good at hiding fingerprints and water marks on worktops.

Bush-hammered

A rough, pitted surface made with a toothed hammer. Maximum slip resistance for exterior paving, ramps and steps.

Flamed

A thermal finish that makes the crystals burst and leaves a rough, non-slip surface. The standard for exterior granite.

Care and maintenance

  • Clean with water and a neutral detergent; hard stones tolerate everyday use very well.
  • Sealing is quick and recommended on light colours and on honed, leathered or flamed finishes.
  • Avoid waxes and film-forming products that leave a layer on the surface.
  • Outdoors, an occasional wash with a pressure cleaner at moderate pressure restores the colour.
  • Hot pans, knives and frost are not a problem for most stones of this family; use trivets anyway to protect sealers.
