About Firestone

Firestone is a high-quality sandstone sourced from Finland, known for its warm beige and cream tones that lend a subtle, natural elegance to any space. The stone features a fine to medium grain with gentle, irregular veining that adds depth and character. Its durability and resistance to weathering make it ideal for both interior and exterior applications, including flooring, wall cladding, countertops, and architectural facades. Firestone can be finished in polished, honed, or brushed textures, allowing designers to achieve a range of aesthetic effects. Marmi di Carrara supplies Firestone in ready‑to‑install slabs of 2–3 cm thickness, as well as custom‑cut blocks, and provides high‑resolution photographs of actual slabs before purchase to ensure complete confidence in your selection.

Typically beige and cream sandstone.

Finishes for Firestone

Honed

Smooth and matt, with a soft satin look. Hides small scratches and etching better than a polish and is safer underfoot.

Sandblasted

A fine, even roughness obtained with a jet of sand. Lightens the colour and gives grip: used for exteriors, steps and pool surrounds.

Bush-hammered

A rough, pitted surface made with a toothed hammer. Maximum slip resistance for exterior paving, ramps and steps.

Natural cleft

The stone is split along its natural layers and left as it is: a lively, riven surface with excellent grip.

Care and maintenance

  • Clean with water and a neutral detergent; hard stones tolerate everyday use very well.
  • Sealing is quick and recommended on light colours and on honed, leathered or flamed finishes.
  • Avoid waxes and film-forming products that leave a layer on the surface.
  • Outdoors, an occasional wash with a pressure cleaner at moderate pressure restores the colour.
  • Hot pans, knives and frost are not a problem for most stones of this family; use trivets anyway to protect sealers.
