About Cinza Telões

Cinza Telões is a striking blue granite from Portugal, known for its medium to coarse grain and subtle rosy or yellowish feldspar accents. The stone’s blueish background is punctuated by fine, dispersed mineral grains that give it a subtle, textured appearance. Its robust composition makes it ideal for high-traffic floors, countertops, and architectural cladding. The stone can be finished in polished, honed, or brushed textures, each highlighting its natural blue hue and mineral detailing. Marmi di Carrara supplies Cinza Telões in blocks, 2–3 cm slabs, and cut-to-size pieces, with photographic references of actual slabs available before purchase.

Medium to coarse-grained blueish porphyroid granite, essentially biotitic, with some rosy or yellowish feldspar grains. The rock has a granular hypidiomorphic texture showing perthitic microcline and slightly weahered zone plagioclase.

Finishes for Cinza Telões

Polished

Mirror-like gloss that brings out colour and veining at full depth. The classic choice for walls, tops and interior floors; slippery when wet.

Honed

Smooth and matt, with a soft satin look. Hides small scratches and etching better than a polish and is safer underfoot.

Leathered

A brushed texture on hard stones: matt, lightly textured and very good at hiding fingerprints and water marks on worktops.

Bush-hammered

A rough, pitted surface made with a toothed hammer. Maximum slip resistance for exterior paving, ramps and steps.

Flamed

A thermal finish that makes the crystals burst and leaves a rough, non-slip surface. The standard for exterior granite.

Care and maintenance

  • Clean with water and a neutral detergent; hard stones tolerate everyday use very well.
  • Sealing is quick and recommended on light colours and on honed, leathered or flamed finishes.
  • Avoid waxes and film-forming products that leave a layer on the surface.
  • Outdoors, an occasional wash with a pressure cleaner at moderate pressure restores the colour.
  • Hot pans, knives and frost are not a problem for most stones of this family; use trivets anyway to protect sealers.
