About Carimbo

Carimbo is a high-quality granite sourced from Brazil, prized for its elegant grey hue and subtle veining that adds depth without overpowering the stone’s natural beauty. The grain is fine to medium, offering a smooth surface that can be polished to a high gloss or left matte for a more rustic feel. Its durability and resistance to abrasion make it ideal for high-traffic floors, countertops, and exterior cladding. Marmi di Carrara supplies Carimbo in large blocks, ready-to-cut slabs of 2–3 cm thickness, and custom sizes upon request. Clients can view authentic slab photographs before purchase, ensuring confidence in the stone’s appearance and quality.

Typically a fine-grained granite with a grey matrix and subtle mineral inclusions.

Finishes for Carimbo

Polished

Mirror-like gloss that brings out colour and veining at full depth. The classic choice for walls, tops and interior floors; slippery when wet.

Honed

Smooth and matt, with a soft satin look. Hides small scratches and etching better than a polish and is safer underfoot.

Leathered

A brushed texture on hard stones: matt, lightly textured and very good at hiding fingerprints and water marks on worktops.

Bush-hammered

A rough, pitted surface made with a toothed hammer. Maximum slip resistance for exterior paving, ramps and steps.

Flamed

A thermal finish that makes the crystals burst and leaves a rough, non-slip surface. The standard for exterior granite.

Care and maintenance

  • Clean with water and a neutral detergent; hard stones tolerate everyday use very well.
  • Sealing is quick and recommended on light colours and on honed, leathered or flamed finishes.
  • Avoid waxes and film-forming products that leave a layer on the surface.
  • Outdoors, an occasional wash with a pressure cleaner at moderate pressure restores the colour.
  • Hot pans, knives and frost are not a problem for most stones of this family; use trivets anyway to protect sealers.
