About Aegean Bordeaux

Aegean Bordeaux is a striking red marble quarried in Turkey. The stone shows a deep red base colour with subtle white to pink veining and a fine to medium granular texture that can appear slightly schistose in places. Its vivid hue and elegant veining make it ideal for high‑impact applications such as hotel lobbies, luxury residential bathrooms, and upscale restaurant interiors. Polished, honed or brushed finishes all enhance its natural beauty, while a matte finish can soften the intensity. Marmi di Carrara supplies Aegean Bordeaux in 2‑3 cm thick blocks and slabs, cut‑to‑size on request, and provides real‑time photos of each slab before purchase.

Aegean Bordeaux marble consists mainly of calcite, displaying occasional granoblastic texture and a slight schistose character.

Finishes for Aegean Bordeaux

Polished

Mirror-like gloss that brings out colour and veining at full depth. The classic choice for walls, tops and interior floors; slippery when wet.

Honed

Smooth and matt, with a soft satin look. Hides small scratches and etching better than a polish and is safer underfoot.

Brushed

Worked with abrasive brushes for a slightly undulating, silky surface that follows the grain of the stone. Warm to the touch and easy to live with.

Sandblasted

A fine, even roughness obtained with a jet of sand. Lightens the colour and gives grip: used for exteriors, steps and pool surrounds.

Bush-hammered

A rough, pitted surface made with a toothed hammer. Maximum slip resistance for exterior paving, ramps and steps.

Care and maintenance

  • Clean with water and a neutral detergent made for natural stone; rinse and dry.
  • Avoid acids and descalers (vinegar, lemon, anti-limescale sprays): they etch calcite and dull a polished surface.
  • Seal with an impregnating protector after laying and repeat when water no longer beads, typically every 1–3 years on tops.
  • Wipe wine, coffee, oil and citrus juice straight away, especially on kitchen and vanity tops.
  • A dulled or scratched surface can be re-honed or re-polished on site: the stone is the same through its whole thickness.
